Privacy Policy of “Tənzil (Təcvidli Quran)” application

Protecting your privacy is very important to us. We’re informing you about our privacy policy to know what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. This privacy declaration is for the “Tənzil (Təcvidli Quran)” application.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Permissions
Internet access permission is required so that you can download translations, Sura recitations and Madina print versions of the Holy Quran, and so that the application can send the anonymous usage statistics described in 1.4. Firebase Crashlytics also uses the internet to report application crashes.
Notification permission is required for notifying you when a download is in progress and for notifying you about Prayer times.
Alarms and reminders permission (Android) is required so that Prayer time notifications arrive at the exact time.
Location permission is required so that the application can determine your location for calculating correct Prayer times and the Qibla direction. Prayer times are calculated on your device; your location is not sent to our server.
Changing permission settings:
You can always change your permission settings for the application by going into your device’s settings.
1.2 Information you provide us directly (optional sync feature)
When you choose to sign in to use the sync feature, we collect:
- your e-mail address,
- your full name,
- your IP address,
- your bookmarks and bookmark lists,
- your last-read place and recent reading places,
- your Dhikr bookmarks,
- your application settings.
1.3 Signing in with Google
If you sign in with Google, Google Sign-In is used to confirm your e-mail address. You can review Google’s privacy policy to know how they handle sign-in data.
1.4 Anonymous usage statistics
To find out which parts of the application are used, where it fails and how to improve it, the application sends anonymous usage statistics to our own server. They are not linked to your name, e-mail address or account, and contain no location, no Quran text you read, no search text and no bookmark names. They consist of:
- a random installation ID created by the application (a new one is created if you reinstall the application),
- which features are used and when (for example opening the Quran reader and which Sura, searches with their writing script and number of results, download and playback errors, answers to permission requests),
- your settings in the application (for example theme, reading mode, translation, text size),
- the platform, the major version of the operating system, the application version and the application’s language.
Detailed records are deleted after 90 days. For up to 13 months we keep, per installation ID, the days on which the application was used, and daily totals. These statistics are not shared with anyone.
1.5 Third party services
We don’t share your data with anyone. Some content is loaded directly from other services, which can see your IP address when you use them:
- Translations are downloaded from Quran.com.
- Recitations in the Listen section are played from mp3quran.net and quranicaudio.com.
- The map in the Qibla section loads map images from OpenStreetMap.
- The name of your place for Prayer times is looked up with your device’s built-in location service (Google on Android, Apple on iOS).
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) receives crash reports.
Sura recitations in the reader, Madina print versions of the Holy Quran and word-by-word translations are downloaded from our own server (tanzil.io).
You can review the privacy policies of these services to know whether they log your IP address or any other information.
2. How we use your information
We use the information you provide only for data synchronization and to reply to you by e-mail. We use the anonymous usage statistics only to improve the application.
