Lantern of The Woodlands
In short. This mod used to be my personal magic that only one player in the server can use it, or only me. At the beginning, this magic is just a small command block system in a map, with healing and protection spells. As time passes, I added more spells, more functions and improved the design. From command blocks, now it's mod with many functions and become very complex. After some drama when play this mod in the real server, I decided to remake the mod again to support multiplayer and improved the systems.
Note : This history only write important events, I will skip some small details.
At the start, I just like to play the game with Electroblob's Wizardry mod. It's a magic mod that added magic wands and spell books, you can mix those books into your magic wand as you like. I really like earth and holy spells. My favorite spells is Healing Aura (Healing Magic Circle), Snare (Ground Trap) and summoning spells.
After that, when I start my new let's play series on YouTube. I has an idea about creating my own magic staff with spells that I like. I personally like to use command block and making a complex system, so I tried and got my own magic staff! (or that I called my personal weapon)
I used "Woodland Staff" from Dynamic Trees mod as a model, and hide the command blocks system near the world spawn (I used spawn chunks to always loaded my system). It's still a small magic system, with very basic healing and protection spells.

After time passed, I changed staff model to one of staff from Bow to Staves resource pack. Now my staff can have shoot function as it's now a bow. My magic slowly growing and not enough space for new spells, so I added category function. When I hold the staff, I will get 5 dyes. Each dyes representing the spell types, drop it to activate a spell.

My lantern staff when regenerating mana
One day, I decided to make my own staff model using "Lantern Staff" from Bow to Staves resource pack as a base. You can download it from my Lantern Staff resource pack.
Since I playing with my friend, I edited the system to make it can work in multiplayer, I mean prevent it from bugs when 2 players using the same system. So I set only a player named "Tanny" can use the magic.

Lantern staff system is located at all bottom-left zone.
After playing a lot, my magic has more functions and spells. Instead of using dyes, now I used flowers to activate spells. And now it also become part of my SKYWIZA command block system.
Without spells, it can also use magic arrow to summon a temporary protector (snowman) using mana, it will shoots monsters nearby, cannot be killed until the timer runs out.
Mana Regeneration : Slowly regenerate mana (about 1 per minute)
Soul : Change body into a soul with ability to control an entity
Dome : Create glass dome
Checkpoint : Teleport to mark point and at lantern location
Forest Golem : Summon a golem
Fireflies : Summon fireflies with dynamic light
Overgrow : Increase random tick speed to 100
Support Station : Create area of good effects for players
Roots : Teleport items and EXP orbs to lantern location
Fortress : Create small defend tower to protect the area from monsters
Cursed Area : Create area of bad effects for enemies
Beanstalk : Create pathway while walking
Wall of Leaves : Create wall that can hide and repair
Wild Flower : Create special flower on ground to detect entities and trap them
Exploration : Summon explorers that will explore the area and create temporary light
Wasteland : Make area around you become dead

After I spend enough time with MCreator (to make Tan's Huge Trees mod), I decided to remake my magic into mod version too on 1.16 I renamed it to "Lantern of The Woodlands", it's the name comes to my head in the first time when I thinking about new name.
Everything look hard since I only know about command block and redstone, and there's 1.16 new commands I need to learn. But not long after that, I can make the spells much complex than before!
Good that MCreator is not a blank paper where you need to write eveything by yourself, but like editable jigsaw. I don't need to learn code before make a mod, just need creativity to use their system. And very good that I can use commands with it too, like when I make a comand block system! My new laboratory!
First advance spell in the mod version "Support Station"
Constellation spell, or known as "Pharos of The Sky" after that.
I no longer use lantern staff model, but just a lantern instead. It can place on ground, hanging under a block and place with a stick (iron bars).
The spells now clearly separated into 2 parts, basic spells and advance spells. Basic spells will be small spells, can be cast and cancel any time. Advance spells will be bigger, it's basically one big spell, but also contain other smaller spells insde.

As I said, I can now make my spells more complex than before. Now it have book GUIs to modify functions of advance spells, not very detailed but enough to use.

Protector : Summon a protection that will shoot small fireball to monsters
Lantern Light : Create temporary light
Winter Wind : Create area of regeneration effect but slow down enemies
Wall of Vines : Create wall that can hide and repair
Wanderer : Teleport entities in area to lantern
Pigeon Post : Send invitation to ally players and teleport them to lantern
Beehive : Create beehive that can summon respawnable bees to attack monsters
Roots : Slowly pulling items and EXP orbs to lantern
Flower of Resurrection : Set new respawn point for ally players at this flower
Flower of Life : Set new world spawn point at this flower
Stone Totem : Make area around the totem always active
Bottle of Mana : Store mana in the bottle
Zodiac Circle : Create area of effects
Constellation : Create 3D hologram of entity map
Green House : Create glass dome that can repair itself
Autumn of Loss : Shoot special weapons with abilities
Loss in Reality : Create circle maze with traps
Moon Shines : Create illusion blocks that can be hide
Unfortunately, one day, I have decided to remake the mod again with command blocks like the version before. I said that "I just feel free when create a system using command blocks in the map, It's something I'm familiar with and good at."
I can't rememder much about why I do that. Maybe I see most GUI features in the mod is not support to multiplayer, it not work at all. So I move to command blocks again.
But in bad things, there're also good things. I have tried to re-create one of my spell in the mod version called "Autumn of Loss" with command blocks, I have an idea to make weapons controlable and head to where I'm looking at. With the distance function, I can shoot weapon and control direction like homing missile!
After about a month, I discontinued the command block again and back to continue the mod version. I just feel like command block system have a limit about spell functions, I think mod is already good, I just miss command blocks.
When I go back to update the mod version, I tried to improve all spells to make them can fully work on server. By replacing textfields and checkboxs with buttons. Improve things, added more functions and redesigned lantern model to looks more fancy. Also added lantern stick model instead of using an iron bar.
New GUI for Pharos of The Sky
Updating all advance spells is very slow, with a lot new features. Unfortunately, after I finish rework 4 of 7 advance spells. Something happened and change everything again.
One day, I had the opportunity to play public modded server "Magitech Fantasia". When I joined, it's like a surprise that I see this mod in their pack, so I took my time to playing and AFK with this public server. Everything look fine, until admins said that my magic is not fair, because only me can use it. After that they removed this mod "Until you find a way to make magic work for everyone", I never thought about this before. I feel strange and cried very hard, why? I just want to help people, like in my imagination.
When I feel okay, I asked for advice from server admin. But I still don't feel better, so I spend my time to thinking about what should I do. I can't imagine a story in my imagination for a while, because of that day, and probably can't be able to until I can find a solution. I think I feel bad if I see people using my lantern, or have same thing as me. What if my lantern and my magic is used by everyone? That will make me like normal people. What about helping people? I maybe don't need to help them anymore... So what is my duty?
Many days have passed, or maybe months. I finally found the best way to make my imaginary world back without damaging it. Instead of just helping people with my magic, I can be a "Magic Maker" too. I'm always afraid of becoming useless and only hope to help people, and that make me becoming selfish. But I forgot that I'm creator of this magic, that's also my duty.

I just need to add more possibilities to my magic for more various. User's magic that similar to others will be less, and replace with user's preferences.

I can now imagine my imaginary world again, so I tried to remake my magic from ground up again for multiplayer. Good that not so long I can think of a good way to update this mod, using system like player UUID!
I still feel little bad when imagine someone using my lantern, that's my personal weapon, so I tried make magic that no need to use lantern. Or just make it more possibilities, yes, it's custom your own personal weapon!
