Distillation column design using ASPEN PLUS (6 months)
System: Propane-Isobutane of feed composition 40 and 60 mol% respectively.
Specifications for products: Propane 98 mol% at top and Isobutane 99 mol% at the bottom.
The distillation column is designed using the RADFRAC model of ASPEN PLUS and the number of trays required was calculated as 40.
Level controllers (2) were also installed to control the levels in reflux and reboiler drums and the response of these controllers to a step-change in set-point was studied.
