Hi, I’m Tanner Lang! I’m a lifelong language lover, study and music nerd, self-taught polyglot-in-progress, and Japanese teacher. I’ve always been fascinated by languages—not just the words themselves, but the cultures, people, and stories hidden behind them.

As a self-taught language learner, I know firsthand the challenges, frustrations, and breakthroughs that come with learning a language. That experience eventually led me to become a Japanese teacher and create Nova Nihongo, my own Japanese-learning business and course. 

I love dystopian fiction, romance, thrillers, and stories filled with high stakes and complicated relationships. I've spent years getting lost in fictional worlds, so eventually, I decided to create one of my own.

That became Lost in Translation—a linguistic romance thriller that combines my love of languages with international intrigue, cryptic messages, cultural mysteries, danger, and a slow-burn romance.

Writing this book has been a way for me to bring together two things I love: languages and storytelling. I wanted to create a story where language isn't just something characters speak, but something that actually drives the mystery.

Whether I'm teaching Japanese or writing about a linguist chasing clues around the world, I love finding ways to show just how powerful language can be.
