Johor Bahru Artisanal Village
Integrating Social Engagement through Intangible Culture
In early 2000s, creative hubs in Johor Bahru have gained significance by inspiring more creative individuals and supporting the growth of freelancers and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) besides providing a platform for talent development and educational opportunities. Unfortunately, many large scale creative hubs in Johor Bahru have struggled to sustain themselves. Despite of the difficulties, the passion of the creative community persisted and many authorities and event organisers continue to support local creative vendors by organizing occasional events.
The thesis aims to enrich the collective memory of locals by engaging interactive public spaces and to provide physical voyage experience for the community to inherit the art and intangible culture of Johor Bahru.
