CURRENT POSITION TITLE & LOCATION: MATERIALS R&D ENGINEER AND ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SPECIALIST, DOVER R&D LAB, NPD GROUP, DOVER PRECISION COMPONENTS, PEARLAND, TX, USA

Personal Statement

I have extensive academic and industrial research experience in materials engineering, additive manufacturing with metals and polymers, injection molding and extrusion systems, steel and specialty alloys metallurgy, mathematical modeling of process engineering systems and material behavior at micro- and nanoscales, nanocomposite development, fatigue and creep of specialty alloys, specialty coatings for demanding applications, contact mechanics and tribology, high pressure and high temperature materials development and testing, mechanical characterization, fracture resistant design, experimental engineering and statistical data analysis, transducer and sensor integration, non-destructive methods and structural health monitoring, custom-made instrument and equipment design, generative design, unconstrained optimization and material selection methodology (Ashby, AHP, fuzzy logic methods and decision algorithms) which directly pertain to materials engineering and mechanical part and product development, manufacturing technology and IP oriented advanced materials research. As an Assistant Professor affiliated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, between 2015 and 2018, I worked on instructional development projects to enhance the innovation ecosystem at TAMU. As new facility and lab creation experiences, I can list my instrumental role in the establishment of MEEN 3D Printing Studio, Rapid Prototyping and Welding Simulation modules at the Materials Selection in Manufacturing labs. Through two technical elective courses I taught, I provided a strong background to undergraduate and graduate students in Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing Innovations and familiarized them with novel experimental/analytical/computational research concepts. For the past 14 years, I have been actively involved in conference and technical meeting activities of several professional engineering societies: ASME, MRS, SME, SIAM, SAMPE, STLE and ASEE. At TAMU, I lectured MEEN 222, Introductory Materials Science; MEEN 360/361, Materials and Manufacturing in Design; and MEEN 475, Materials and Process Selection in Design and several special topics courses such as ‘Electroactive Polymers’ and ‘Material Development for Additive Manufacturing’. I believe my strong materials, mechanical engineering and real-manufacturing-world-forged technical background, publications, research experience and ongoing interests in emerging manufacturing technologies, materials and process development, and engineering cost optimization methods make me well qualified for R&D and consulting activities in these fields.
