I’m originally from Singkawang, West Kalimantan. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Tanjungpura University in Pontianak, and later moved to Yogyakarta to pursue my Master’s degree in the same field at Yogyakarta State University. During my studies, I was actively involved in both academic and creative pursuits, from workshops to music competitions, which really shaped my growth. Now, as a lecturer, I teach, guide students, and conduct research. While I used to join competitions early in my career, I’ve since shifted my focus toward research and academic development. Looking ahead, I’m eager to explore research opportunities abroad, particularly in environments that encourage dialogue between global and local perspectives. I’m deeply interested in how diverse approaches to music education (piano pedagogy) can intersect with the rich cultural expressions of the Nusantara.
For me, learning from global traditions isn’t about replacing our own, but about finding harmony between them, creating a more human and inclusive way of teaching and experiencing music. Through this integration, I hope to contribute to a music education landscape in Indonesia that’s globally connected yet deeply rooted in its own identity.
