If you want professional Hi-Fi sound with deep active noise cancellation for immersive listening during airplane travel, choose TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench; if you need rugged, open-ear safety and true underwater swimming capability, choose TECKNET Bone Conduction Headphones.
• TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench: Delivers studio-grade audio with a 10mm beryllium-coated driver and blocks out -45dB of ambient noise via ANC; the trade-off is an in-ear design that isolates you from your surroundings rather than keeping them visible.
• TECKNET Bone Conduction Headphones: Offers complete situational awareness with bone conduction tech, IP68 waterproofing for actual swimming, and 32GB of internal storage; the trade-off is the absence of traditional bass and no active noise cancellation.
• Who picks which: The TANCHJIM pick is for audiophiles and travelers seeking silence, while the TECKNET pick is for athletes, swimmers, and cyclists who need to hear traffic.
The TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench is engineered for listeners who refuse to compromise on audio fidelity. At its core lies a 10mm full-size high-magnet dynamic transducer featuring a beryllium-coated dome and PU suspension edge. This specific combination allows for a wide dynamic range while keeping non-linear distortion below 0.1%. If you are someone who listens to complex orchestral pieces or detailed electronic tracks, this driver configuration is designed to reproduce smooth ultra-high frequencies and a midrange that balances tightness with softness, all anchored by deep bass extension. It is not just about volume; it is about the purity of the signal reaching your ear canal.
Beyond the raw hardware, the Tench excels in environments where silence is a luxury. With Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capable of reducing environmental noise up to -45dB, these earbuds can effectively block the hum of an airplane engine or the chaos of a busy subway car. You do not have to turn the volume up to dangerous levels to drown out the world; instead, the technology actively cancels the frequencies that usually distract you. When you need to be aware of your surroundings without removing the earbuds, a Transparency Mode allows external sounds to pass through naturally. This makes them incredibly versatile for daily commutes where you might need to hear an announcement but still want your music playing.

This product is ideal for frequent flyers, commuters, and anyone who spends long hours in noisy settings. The battery life supports this lifestyle, offering up to 5 hours of continuous playback in Noise Canceling mode and extending to 31 hours total with the charging case. In standard mode without ANC, you get approximately 6 hours per charge, totaling 37 hours with the case. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.3 ensures a stable connection with low latency as low as 0.086 seconds when Game Mode is activated, making them suitable for watching movies or gaming without annoying audio lag. However, if you prefer an open-ear experience or need headphones that stay secure during intense physical activity like running in heavy rain, the in-ear seal might feel less secure or comfortable compared to other designs.
The TECKNET Bone Conduction Headphones serve a very different purpose, catering specifically to those who prioritize safety and durability over traditional audio isolation. These headphones utilize an open-ear design that sits outside the ear canal, transmitting sound directly through the cheekbones. This means you remain fully aware of your environment, hearing cars approaching behind you, people talking nearby, or birds chirping while you listen to your playlist. For runners, cyclists, and warehouse workers, this feature is not just a convenience; it is a critical safety mechanism. The weight is minimal at just 33 grams, and the adjustable strap ensures a secure fit that does not bounce around, even during vigorous movement.
While most "waterproof" headphones are merely sweat-resistant, this model boasts an IP68 rating, meaning it can withstand immersion in up to 2 meters of water for 2 hours. This makes it one of the few wireless options suitable for lap swimming. To use it underwater, you simply switch to the built-in MP3 mode, utilizing the 32GB of internal memory to store up to 8,000 songs. Since Bluetooth signals cannot transmit through water, this local storage feature is essential for getting uninterrupted audio while submerged. The magnetic charging cable also doubles as a data transfer tool, allowing you to easily drag and drop files from your computer directly onto the headset.
These headphones are the clear choice for swimmers, triathletes, and outdoor enthusiasts who run in areas with heavy traffic or poor visibility. The battery life is robust, delivering up to 10 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, which covers most marathon training sessions or long work shifts. The Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity provides a stable link within a 10-meter range, ensuring you can leave your phone in a locker or bag while staying connected. However, users should expect a different sound profile; because there are no drivers pushing air into the ear canal, you will not get the same deep, punchy bass found in in-ear models. Additionally, since there is no active noise cancellation, you will hear every wind gust and road noise, which some may find distracting if they are trying to focus on a quiet podcast.

I would buy the TANCHJIM MINO ASANO Tench for my personal needs, primarily because I spend a significant amount of time traveling and commuting where noise reduction is essential. The ability to create a silent zone with -45dB ANC while maintaining high-fidelity audio makes it the superior choice for enjoying music and podcasts without shouting over the crowd. Its compact design and long battery life make it perfect for foldable sports earbuds for meetings or flights, whereas the TECKNET is too specialized for general use. However, if my primary goal were swimming or running in high-traffic areas where hearing my surroundings is non-negotiable, I would immediately switch to the TECKNET. For general use, especially for airplane travel, the TANCHJIM offers the better balance of technology and comfort.
The TECKNET Bone Conduction Headphones are safer for warehouse work due to their open-ear design, which allows you to hear machinery alarms and footsteps while listening to audio. The TANCHJIM Tench blocks out too much noise, which could be a safety hazard in such environments.
No, you do not need a phone. The TECKNET has 32GB of built-in storage for up to 8,000 songs, allowing you to switch to MP3 mode and swim independently without a Bluetooth connection.
Yes, the Tench features ENC Call Noise Reduction and dual microphones with beamforming technology specifically designed to capture vocals clearly while minimizing wind noise interference.
The TECKNET offers up to 10 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, whereas the TANCHJIM offers 5 hours with ANC on or 6 hours in standard mode, making the TECKNET more suitable for all-day endurance without recharging.
