Howdy! TAMU SCEC is a great organization to join!
To Join:
We are incredibly open to people coming to our meetings. Click on Meetings to find the time and locations of our meetings! To be a member you must pay BOTH National Dues (to CEC) and Local Dues (to SCEC). National dues are $52 and are paid for a full year. National Dues are paid online at www.cec.sped.org. Local dues are $10 and are collected each semester. SCEC provides opportunities for community service, socials, and professional development.
If you are worried about paying the national dues, they are worth it! You will have subscriptions to great publications (read benefits below) that will aid you in your studies here and when you eventually become a teacher!

We hope to see new members that will help make our organization diverse and strong.
1. You get awesome publications - TEACHING Exceptional Children, Exceptional Children, and CEC Today. TEACHING Exceptional Children is a classroom-oriented magazine for teaching children with exceptionalities and you receive six of these per year. Exceptional Children is an original research publication looking at the significant findings and trends in Special Education (4 issues per year). CEC today is an online member newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on professional and legal developments (6 issues per year).
2. Books, Media and Training - CEC's catalog is packed with resources and materials covering many issues in Special education!
3. Career Development - CEC's continuing education programs, including conventions & Expos, provides ground-breaking information, state-of-the-art resources, and new ways of reaching students.
4. Advocacy and Support - CEC members advocate on the behalf of the rights of children and youth with exceptionalities, as well as the special needs of the educators who serve them.
5. At the CEC website, you will have members-only access to CEC's journals, get the latest updates on news in special education, register for professional development events, etc.
6. Online Job Board - post your resume and view job postings on CEC's online job board.
