Dr. Mary Beth Hueste is the Truman R. Jones, Jr. ‘43 Professor in the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. She joined Texas A&M University in 1998 where she is a member of the structural engineering faculty. Dr. Hueste conducts research promoting sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including the development of new design approaches and application of innovative materials to enhance the service-life, structural performance, and safety of the built environment. She is active in the American Concrete Institute (ACI), where she was been named Fellow of the Institute in 2011. In 2019, she was appointed to ACI Committee 318 (Building Code), which develops and maintains the building code requirements for structural concrete adopted in the US and other countries. She was recognized in 2021 with the ACI Joe W. Kelly Award for her outstanding contributions to educating the next generation of engineers and her leadership in advancing the concrete industry through research and committee activities. Dr. Hueste is a member of the Editorial Boards of Engineering Structures and the ACI Structural Journal. She holds a BS degree from North Dakota State University, a MS degree from the University of Kansas, and a PhD degree from the University of Michigan, all in Civil Engineering.
