Tammi Swensen, A/OGA
My name is Tammi Swensen and I have been a Title 1 Reading Specialist for seven years. Prior to becoming a certified reading specialist, I was a fourth grade classroom teacher for twenty years. In February of 2023, I became a certified Associate Level Member of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. I reside in Taunton, Massachusetts with my husband and two teenage children, a son (18) and a daughter (15). My daughter experienced challenges acquiring beginning reading skills from a young age and was diagnosed with dyslexia in 1st grade. With both my mom and teacher hats on, I became engrossed in trying to learn as much as I could about dyslexia, and most importantly, what my daughter needed to become a successful learner. The experience of supporting my daughter developed into a passion and strong desire to help other children with reading deficits and disabilities, especially dyslexia.
