Talynn Lovato OTAS
This ePortfolio is a comprehensive compilation of assignments, projects, and professional experiences that reflect my journey and growth throughout the SLCC Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. Occupational therapy plays a pivotal role in helping individuals regain a sense of fulfillment and independence in the daily tasks and activities that shape their lives. The clients we serve exhibit a wide range of functional abilities, shaped by factors such as injury, surgery, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or aging. My professional aspiration within this field is to specialize in adult care, where I aim to advocate for them and champion their unique needs. By fostering an environment of acceptance and celebrating our differences, I believe we can contribute to a future that is not only more inclusive but also better and more compassionate for all.
Occupational Therapy helps people of all ages do daily activities that are meaningful to them. We can work on dressing, cooking, and even playing by improving physical, cognitive, and emotional skills. We are about empowering the clients to improve their quality of life and be their most independent self. One goal I have is to continue to keep my options open on different settings and not be so set on Adult Phys Dys.
About Me: My name is Talynn Mcole Lovato. I am currently a student in the Occupational therapy Assisting program at Salt Lake Community College. I will graduate in 2026 of next year. I grew up in Green River UT and have a special place in my heart for rural areas. I lived there my whole life and had a graduating class of twenty people. I left Green River to get my associates degree at Snow College where I had a full ride academic scholarship and graduated in 2023. My inspiration for and love for Occupational therapy came from my stepfather Landen Jacobson. He was in a car accident in 2015, and his wife and youngest son were killed on scene. He has half of his frontal lobe missing and was told he would never be able to walk or talk again. He now runs his own tow truck business and walks and talks all day long. It was because of the OTs he said that he is who he is today.
My boyfriend and I are high school sweethearts, and we’ve been together for nearly five years. I cherish the time we spend together, especially when hunting season arrives—whether we're after big game or small, I love tagging along and sharing those moments with him. Outside of that, I’m passionate about singing and playing guitar in my spare time. When I’m not making music, you’ll likely find me riding our SXS and exploring the breathtaking landscapes of our hometown. We also just had our first child in June of 2025. Zayne has been the highlight of our lives, and I cannot wait to keep watching him grow!
