Contact & Support

Talvo is made by one person, and every email is read and answered by that person — not a ticketing system.

We aim to reply within two working days. If you haven't heard back in five, please send it again — it means the first one went astray.

Reporting a problem

The fastest way to get help is from inside the app: Help ▸ Contact Support, or the Support link at the bottom of the sidebar. That opens a pre-filled email with your Talvo version, your macOS version, your current plan and course, so you don't have to dig any of it out.

If you'd rather write from scratch, it helps enormously to include:

Subscriptions, billing and refunds

Talvo Pro is sold through the App Store, so Apple — not Talvo — handles payment, billing and refunds. We can't see your payment details, and we can't issue a refund ourselves.

To view, change or cancel a subscription: open ▸ System Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Media & Purchases ▸ Manage, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.

To request a refund: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and choose the purchase. Apple decides these directly.

If Pro isn't unlocking after a successful purchase — for example after reinstalling or on a second Mac — open the paywall in Talvo and choose Restore purchases. If that doesn't do it, email us with the date of purchase and we'll help you work out where it's stuck.

Your data

Talvo has no accounts and no sign-in. Your courses, vocabulary, review history and progress are stored on your own Mac, not on our servers.

To delete everything Talvo holds about you, delete the app. That removes all local learning data along with the anonymous identifier it stores in your Keychain. There's nothing on our side to delete, because there's no account to delete it from.

Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Common questions

Do I need an internet connection? For anything the AI writes — new lessons, the tutor, translation, the Live interpreter — yes. Reviewing your deck, re-reading a lesson you've already opened and practising its exercises all work offline.

What's free, and what needs Pro? Free gives you one AI-written task of your choosing — a full lesson, a conversation with the tutor, or a translation — plus three exchanges with the Live interpreter, kept separate so trying Live doesn't cost you your lesson. On top of that, reviewing and practising everything you've already learned is unlimited and free forever, including the spaced-repetition deck, graded exercises and pronunciation feedback. Pro removes the limits: unlimited lessons, unlimited conversation, unlimited translation, unlimited Live interpreting and neural voices.

Which languages does Talvo teach? 26: Spanish (Latin America and Spain), French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Greek, Russian, Turkish, Egyptian Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin, in both simplified and traditional characters), Indonesian, Vietnamese and Thai. Lessons are written in English.

Why are there two versions of some languages? Because they're genuinely different to learn. Egyptian Arabic is what people speak day to day in Cairo; Modern Standard Arabic is the formal written language of news and books. Latin American and European Spanish differ in everyday words and in how you address people. Simplified and traditional Chinese share a spoken language but not a writing system. Pick the one that matches why you're learning — you can add the other later.

Can I use Talvo on more than one Mac? Yes — your subscription follows your Apple Account. Use Restore Purchaseson the second Mac. Learning progress is stored locally on each Mac and doesn't sync between them yet.

Something in a lesson looks wrong. Please tell us, and include the language and the sentence. Lessons are AI-written and occasionally a word or an accent is off; reports like these are the most useful mail we get.

Feature requests

Very welcome. Tell us what you're trying to do and why the app makes it awkward — that's more useful than a proposed solution, and it's how most of what's in Talvo got there.
