Shishir Kanti Talukder joined the TeCSIS Research Team as a Ph.D. student in Fall 2025 with a Distinguished Graduate Student Assistantship (DGSA) from Texas Tech University. He is currently working on evaluating winter-hardy chickpea germplasm for crop diversification in the southern High Plains and assessing the effects of heat stress on cotton growth, yield, and fiber quality. His research aims to identify cold-tolerant, disease-resistant chickpea lines for sustainable winter cropping and to understand how high day and night temperatures impact cotton performance, offering lessons for developing stress-resilient cropping systems.
Before joining Texas Tech University, he completed his M.S. in Agronomy from Bangladesh Agricultural University and his B.Sc. in Agriculture from Noakhali Science and Technology University. His broader research interests include allelopathic weed management, crop stress physiology, and sustainable cropping systems.
