TALMIRI is over. Martin White wrote a nice article in BCS Informer about our event.
A symposium to bring together talented early-stage researchers, academics and information retrieval industry with invited speakers in an iconic location in Bedfordshire, UK. Practioners and researchers, in particular but not exclusively PhD/MSc students and early-stage researchers, are invited to present (as poster or demo) their exciting search and information retrieval related work to IR experts and industry.
TALMIRI is a one-day symposium to bring together young and senior researchers and practitioners from industry on topics related to search and information retrieval. Speakers from industry will give talks about industry-related topics and problems in the area of enterprise search and search and IR applied to industrial problems. Furthermore, young researchers, in particular PhD students, will be given the opportunity to present and discuss their work and ideas with industry practitioners and senior researchers. There will be mixed talks given by industry practitioners with presentations given by academics and early-stage researchers/PhD/MSc students. In a poster session, delegates and students can further discuss their work and ideas. This informal one-day event aims to raise awareness of industry-relevant topics on one hand and the cutting-edge works of researchers on the other hand, to foster knowledge transfer and encourage discussion as well as networking in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere.
During the event, the BCS Information Retrieval Specialist Group will hold its annual general meeting. All delegates are invited to participate.
