about me

Hey, folks! I'm Liz.

I’m a jack of many trades. I often have trouble narrowing in on just one thing I feel called to do – in my life, in a day, or even in a moment. But the beauty of my indecisive nature is that I spend my time doing so many things that I deeply love. And, lucky for me, these loves are connected in many ways, subtle and overt.

I grow and gather plants at home, and with my Delightful co-farmers. I cook nourishing food for my community at the Red Herring Vegetarian Restaurant and in my home kitchen. I sing – loudly and often, to dear friends and distant strangers – in my blues/improv duo: Dewclaw. I create using my knitting needles, sewing machine, pen, chalk and brush. And I spend time growing and gathering plants, and making them into medicinal herbal preparations. All of these passions connect me to the beauty of our world in some way, shape or form.

In everything I do, I humbly wish to do good for the Earth, and all Earth inhabitants:

by practicing care for the land through growing and tending medicinal plants, food, and flowers;

by creating and sharing art, writing, food and medicine that uplifts and questions the status quo;

and by peacefully communing and working with other people, plants and creatures.

In recent years, my work as a steward of the land and a caretaker of my community has been focused on studying, growing, harvesting, processing and using safe and gentle medicinal plants to help heal myself and my inner circle. My thirst for herbal knowledge has led me to a dedicated practice of self-study, to online coursework with herbalist Juliet Blankespoor of the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, and to the massively inspiring in-person teachings of Lisa Ganora at the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism. I am also constantly learning volumes about the medicine of our planet from my brilliant friends - farmers, foragers, chefs, healers, scientists, teachers, engineers, archivists, and artists alike. With humility, reverence and joy, I continue on the plant path as both a student and a teacher.
