Here is where I've saved songs that I imagine the project goes along to. You'll find music that feel incredibly personal to me on my journey. The intention was to have certain snippets of songs playing during different moments when reading the pieces. However, due to technical restraints, this was unable to happen. Either way, I hope you enjoy.
Both Life is Strange 1 and Life is Strange 2 are point and click choice based adventure video games that have felt incredibly relateable to me. While both of them feature separate stories, they ground themselves in how powerful it is to choose to be a morally good person, what reasonings we have behind our decisions, and the level of influence our choices can have on our loved ones.
Steven Universe was a tv show on Cartoon Network about a child named Steven burdened with his absent mother's past, and a burning desire to be the person everyone wants him to be. The weight of expectation and the self-discovery journey Steven goes on inspires my own.
Celeste is a platforming video game about Madeline attempting to climb Celeste mountain, encountering a version of herself standing against her. Under the guise of futility and powerlessness, this alter ego and Madeline come to reconcile their different ways of living and thinking to finally reach the summit. Their journey helps me reconcile the split selves I write about in my piece.
A 2D turn-based role-playing video game about a boy named Omori and his friends, and how Omori copes with a tragic past and a despondent future. I saw a lot of my self-destructive tendencies in Omori.
Persona is a turn based dungeon crawler and high school life simulation video game franchise. Despite its anthological nature, its main themes are grounded in having alter egos -- "Persona" -- to fight life's main troubles and worries, while staying connected to the ones we love the most, which also helps power those alter egos. This was one of my first video games, and admittedly taught me the power of connection and community has.
Kingdom Hearts was one of the first video games I ever got into, and is about a boy named Sora who journeys to different worlds, teaching and learning about the power of connection. Despite its somewhat cartoonish nature with its crossover with Disney stories, Kingdom Hearts is at the core of who I am -- a boy looking for hope and love wherever he goes.
