1. Summary
TalkNode is a communication board (AAC app) for people who cannot speak. TalkNode does not collect any personal data. It has no user accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you create in TalkNode stays on your device.
2. What is stored on your device
To work, TalkNode keeps the following on your device only:
- Communication cards: the sentences, captions, symbols and any photos you add.
- Settings: app language, voice, speaking speed, grid layout and the caregiver PIN.
- Emergency (SOS) contact numbers and medicine reminders you enter.
- Usage history: which cards are tapped and when. It is used on the device to suggest the next card and to show a usage chart in the PIN-protected caregiver area.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it. You can delete it at any time by removing cards in the caregiver area or by uninstalling the app.
3. Device permissions
TalkNode asks for a permission only at the moment a feature needs it:
- Location (while using the app): read only when you press the SOS button, so a map link can be added to your emergency message. TalkNode never tracks your location and never reads it in the background.
- Camera: only when you choose "Take photo" while making a card.
- Photos: only when you choose a picture for a card.
Photos you take or pick are stored inside the app on your device and are never uploaded.
TalkNode does not use the microphone.
4. Emergency messages and reminders
When you press SOS, or when a medicine reminder is due, TalkNode opens your phone's own messaging app with a ready-written message addressed to the numbers you saved. You see the message and you send it yourself. TalkNode does not send text messages on its own and does not have permission to do so. Messages are delivered by your phone carrier, not by us.
If you use "Your language is not listed?", TalkNode opens your email app with a ready-written message; you decide whether to send it.
5. Speech
Sentences are spoken by the text-to-speech engine built into your device (for example, Apple's system voices on iOS). TalkNode does not send your sentences to any server. On some Android devices the text-to-speech engine is provided by another company and follows that company's privacy policy.
6. Third parties
TalkNode contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software and does not share or sell any data.
7. Children
TalkNode can be used by people of all ages, including children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children.
