Welcome

This is a Portfolio Project for my Indian Epics course (MLLL 4993-996) at the University of Oklahoma, Spring 2018. My name is Casey, and I'll be retelling stories from India.

Contents:

Mandodari: In the Ramayana, Mandodari is Ravana's wife and her life is sad. In my version, she stands up for her beliefs and finds a happier life.

The Eternal Flame: Sita is one of the most prominent characters in the Ramayana. In this story, I retell how she meets Rama with a tale of a prince searching for a woman worth marrying and placing on the throne beside him.

The Eighth Son: I combined part of Krishna's story and a piece from the Mahabharata to form my own story about a couple who struggle with having children. If you've read either of these originals, you know the eighth son can be very special.

The King and the Deer: I took a magical story of a deer saving a king and turned it into a more realistic version where the roles are flipped. A deer is able to show a king the value of animals' lives.
