Brief Bio

I am currently a Professor at Télécom Paris, Director of the LTCI research center since January 2017, Dean of Research at Télécom Paris since February 2018, and Deputy Vice-President of Research at Institut Polytechnique de Paris since September 2023. My main task as Research Dean at Télécom Paris consists of defining the research and development strategy of the institution (160 professors and around 300 doctoral and postdoctoral students) and implementing it, in collaboration with the heads of the departments and the research team leaders. I have also been very active since the creation of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (2019) in the definition of the governance of its research activity (around 900 faculty members, 10 disciplinary departments, and more than 30 research centers).

Before taking responsibility for the LTCI, I held the Big Data and Market Insights Chair at Télécom Paris from 2013 to 2017, and led several research actions on social networks (ANR-ISICIL project, 2009-2012), on version control for semi-structured documents (ANR-LPOD project, 2009-2011 and FEDER-DROD project, 2011-2013).

My main research achievements are on version control (DBPL'97, DocEng'13), change detection and querying of XML documents (BDA'02, CIKM’08), information extraction from the structured web (VLDB’10, ICDE’12), social networks analysis (DBSocial’11, WWW’11, CIKM’12, RSWeb’13), graph data (CJ’18, EDBT’19, CIKM’19, FGCS420, FI’21) and recommender systems (RecSys'13, RecSys'15, RecSys'18, ACM CSUR’21) and predictive analytics (JMLR’18, IJCNN’20, JMLR’22). I participated in several national and European research projects. I supervised and co-supervised fourteen Ph.D. students. I received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Université Paris Dauphine-PSL and a Habilitation degree (HDR) from UPMC-Sorbonne University. I spent two years as an assistant professor at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL before joining Telecom Paris in 1998.
