Tandetron Accelerator Laboratory
Department of Physics
Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is one of the oldest institutes in our country hosting an ion-beam accelerator facility in a university setup. In 1968, a 2 MV Van-de-Graaff accelerator was commissioned here, which had been extensively used for research in nuclear and atomic physics. This accelerator was de-commissioned in 2005.
In 2008 the 1.7 MV high current tandetron accelerator was installed along with a micro-beam facility.
The 1.7MV tandetron accelerator is now a licensed accelerator for external users under AERB license no. (AERB/RSD/PARF/LIC/R0/UP-53828/2022/574)
