Privacy Policy for “Takealot Helper” Chrome Extension

1. Introduction
Takealot Helper (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a lightweight Chrome extension that allows users to push draft shipments and validate SKUs via a Google Apps Script backend. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any information you choose to share while using our extension.

2. Data We Collect

  • Shipment ID and Account Name entered in the popup UI.
    
    

• Local Storage Data
  
  

  • (Optional) We may store your last-used Shipment ID and Account Name in Chrome’s chrome.storage.local to streamline repeat use.
    
    

• Network Requests
  
  

  • We send your inputs (Shipment ID & Account Name) to our Google Apps Script endpoint over HTTPS. No additional personal data is attached.
    
    

We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, payment details, browsing history, or location.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Required so the extension can send and receive data to/from https://script.google.com/macros/s/.../exec.
    
    

• Remote Code Execution
  
  

  • Popup.js fetches lightweight JavaScript responses (JSON) from our Apps Script endpoint to perform “pushDraft” and “checkSku” operations.
    
    

• Storage Permission
  
  

  • Used solely to remember your last-used Shipment ID and Account Name, improving convenience.
    
    

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, or share it with any third-party advertisers.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google Apps Script
  
  

  • All backend logic is hosted on Google’s Apps Script platform. Data you submit is processed there to interact with your Takealot draft shipments and SKU database.
    
    

• Chrome Web Store
  
  

  • User installation metrics (number of installs, crashes) are collected by Google for their dashboard analytics—no PII is shared with us.
    
    

5. Data Retention & Deletion

• Inputs sent to our Apps Script are not stored persistently on our servers.
  
  

• Any data in your local Chrome storage can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the extension or via Chrome’s extension settings.
  
  

6. Security
We use HTTPS for all communications between your browser and our Apps Script endpoint. We follow best practices to ensure that data in transit and at rest (in local storage) is not exposed.

7. Children’s Privacy
Our extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our extension evolves. We’ll publish the updated date at the top and notify users via the Web Store listing.
