The Velvet Room in Persona 5 is an important place because this is where you fuse or in other words "make personas". The Velvet Room also appeared in the previous Persona games.
In Persona 5, Personas are formed by individuals who find themselves in the Metaverse and are dealing with feelings of frustration of being wronged or taken advantage of. Should the person decide to rebel and take revenge, their Shadow Self calls out to them, forming a mask on their face.
The Phantom Thieves of Hearts, also known simply as the Phantom Thieves, are a group of Persona Users in Persona 5 and its related media. Sick of the deception, hypocrisy and corruption around them, the Phantom Thieves are devoted to "stealing" corrupt hearts, usually of adults in positions of power, in order to reform society.
After their first heist, a name can be picked for the group (with the default name being "The Phantoms") which is used in calling cards, dialogue (although voice dubbing will always refer to them as the "Phantom Thieves"), and in online features.
Calling cards are important in Persona 5 Royal. They are the key element to steal the treasure within the palace, if you don't manage to send the calling card to the target its game over.
Palaces in Persona 5 is the metaverse, the Phantom Thieves go in palaces to steal the hearts of the corrupt people. They also steal from those who have disorted desires. Palaces are also the main gameplay of Persona 5.

In Persona 5 you can hang out with the characters you have socialized with. You can decide to deepen your bonds with them to evolve or get new abilities while exploring a palace. This is a key element to the game because it gets you new abilities.
Confidant, known as Cooperation (コープ, Kōpu)? in the Japanese version, is a game mechanic in Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.
This mechanic is almost identical to the Social Links of Persona 3 and Persona 4 and involves the protagonist building relationships with accomplices around the city. Unlike Social Links however, establishing and improving relationships with Confidants provides various tangible benefits outside of improving fusion results of their associated Arcana
