ABOUT PANELISTS

Michael joined NextEra Energy in 2010 and is currently the VP of IT of FPL with responsibility for technology solutions. Prior to joining NextEra Energy, he was IT VP, Global Commodities Group at Constellation Energy. Michael was selected for one of the top 40 Innovative IT People to Watch Under the Age of 40 by ComputerWorld Magazine. He was also awarded Information Week Top Innovator Award and the Microsoft Pinnacle Award for Customer Service. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with his concentrations in CIS from John Hopkins University. Michael currently sits on the Board for the Technology Advisory Committee for the Palm Beach County School Board, is the Board Chair for South Florida Tech Hub, and Board member at large for Palm Beach County Human Rights Council (PBCHRC). South Florida Tech Hub promotes industry growth by working with educational institutions, government entities, and business groups to support the goals of member companies.

Ayari is the Leader of Community Engagement & Belonging at the Yes Institute. She has more than ten years of experience with capacity-building projects in urban communities and supporting youth from at-risk locations. Ayari grew up on the US/Mexico border where she facilitated conversations that allowed youth to become their own agents of change. Previously, she served as Director of Communication and Social Responsibility for the Overtown Youth Center (OYC). Ayari also led gender-based human rights policy efforts in Puerto Rico, on the education system and the prison system. She continues as an active member of the Miami Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Ayari speaks on panels regarding her own personal experience and analysis on international human rights with an intersectional focus. She is also a published poet.

Krysten works with our clients to understand their business needs, assess current capabilities against industry best practices to then partner with our clients to implement changes that improve the business through optimized processes, systems, and resources. In her work Krysten often must wear multiple hats be it as a Strategic IT Consultant, Solutions Architect, Security Specialist, or Confidant. Flexibility coupled with a holistic, open-minded, solution rather than sales focused approach is at the core of her approach when partnering with others. Organizations that have benefited from Krysten’s breadth of experience include The Cleveland Institute of Art, General Chemical Corporation, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Nabisco Foods, Sealy Mattress, BMI Transportation, and many, many others. Krysten was the original founder of Biz-Edge and has worked with many of our clients for over 10 years and is nowadays considered a friend as much as a business advisor.

Felix Frances

Felix is a student, Youth Leader for the Yes Institute based out of Miami, Community Advocate, and an Intern with a couple of organizations in South Florida. He is Transgender and NeuroQueer, his hobbies include coding (hard ware and software), and Felix is a dedicated volunteer with SAVE Dade and YES Institute. He has been on local news such as NBC Miami advocating for LGBTQ+ community rights. Coding is a hobby and not a career given the gender challenges within the field, but he is excited to share his story in an effort to better educate the community.
