I was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by women who have the gift of hospitality and show their love for others through their cooking and baking. Early on, I learned there was something so satisfying about making a delicious treat, sharing it with others and watching them enjoy it. Baking brings me joy and has always been a stress-relieving hobby and goodness knows, 2020 has provided some stress.
Take two sweets was born one morning during Ohio's stay-at-home orders when I was thinking about how I could help some special kids have some fun while staying at home. That first cookie kit was a hit and in the weeks that followed, with a little encouragement from my family and friends, I decided to take a leap of faith and start offering cookie kits to other families who found themselves spending a lot of time together and looking for new ways to have fun.
The name, "take two sweets" has multiple layers of meaning. Of course, on a literal level, I made the first cookie kit for two sweeties, Sibley and James, and I already had a huge cookie cutter collection after years of making cookies for my own two sweeties, Ellie and Jane. But during this time, I was also approaching a milestone birthday that had me thinking about what my "second act" could be, my own "take two."
Since I've begun, this has been a joyful journey and I'm excited to see where it leads. Thank you to everyone who has supported this venture! I'd like to think I've spread a little happiness during this crazy time. Wishing you peace, health and cookie smiles in the remainder of 2020 and beyond.
xoxo
