And while situations trend toward the absurd (it IS reality TV) there are some nuggets of knowledge hidden beneath all the drama. So while I certainly never expect to argue with Kathy Hilton over breakfast, or host a mannequin fashion show during an open house, I do take note of the common tropes that unfold. Here are 4 real life lessons we can all learn from Million Dollar Listing San Francisco:

There are things I get to notice when I'm playing it alone which I don't take note of when I'm playing with people probably because I'm busy trying to attack my opponents and at the same time protect my games from attack. But today as I shake this dice and move my games I did take note of the following things which are practically real life lessons:

Playing Ludo offers more than just entertainment; it mirrors real-life lessons. Much like strategic moves in the game, life requires planning and decision-making. The unpredictability of dice rolls parallels life's uncertainties. Switching to online lessons during the pandemic has forced a number of changes about how violin lessons work. One significant change has been to shift the responsibility for taking notes from the teacher to the students and/or their parents. Here are some thoughts on that change, followed by specific advice for students, teachers and parents, to help you to take effective notes from your lessons.

I'm a teacher who has written a lot of notes for students. During Before Times, when teaching in-person lessons, I furiously scribbled notes and directions on a practice chart for students, trying to write down as much information as I could while simultaneously listening, teaching and demonstrating. Students and their parents were grateful - one parent even said, "I just realized, you do this for us every week - but you also do that for every single one of your students." It amounted to customized, handwritten, personal practice plan for each of my 25+ students, every week.

When we converted to online lessons, I decided to hand the task of taking notes over to my students and their parents. It was an enlightening decision. I asked my students to email me their notes before each lesson, so I could refer to them during the lesson. What an eye-opener! A number of different interpretations emerged: the lessons I thought I was teaching, the lessons my students were having, and the lessons the parents were observing.

This is a labor-intensive process at the beginning, but it will ultimately save time during your week of practice and will result in greater progress as the students take more ownership and remember more details about their lessons!

August 29, 2020 at 12:50 AM  I record all of my lessons, then type them the next day, using bold type for important points. A big advantage to having recordings is I can hear my teacher play the songs and exercises whenever I need them for reference. I timestamp the notes, save both the notes and the recordings, and index which lessons and exercises we worked on within the lessons. After every fifty lessons I have them bound for future reference.

The rest of my teachers did not take notes nor did I. Whatever was written down during the lesson was in the music: fingerings, bowings, arrows (to indicate notes that were consistently either sharp of flat). I do not think more notes would have made me progress faster. One thing about memory is that if one uses it one develops it. The other thing is this: There is a limit to the number of items one can focus on during practice anyway: Handle too many different issues in the same lesson and you overload the student, notes or no notes.

Recently I found myself in a vulnerable state, out of energy and drained of any positivity. While I am use to being the leader of the circle caring for those around me, I found myself in the center. Without me asking, my tribe of women encircled me. They poured out encouragement, they let me cry, they listened to my story, they brought me treasured gifts and gave their time to help me heal. One friend gave me a Christmas ornament from The Festive Farm Company that I will treasure for a lifetime. The beautiful metal ornament was paired with this note.

Although avoiding struggle is a natural biological response, it is also ironic because struggle can teach us many valuable lessons. Struggle builds character, makes you stronger, and enables you to grow in all aspects of your life. Nobody wakes up in the morning hoping to struggle, but the struggle can provide you with valuable life lessons.

Every cloud has a silver lining. Going through a difficult phase in life can be immensely valuable if you face it with an attitude of perseverance and patience. The following are 5 valuable lessons struggle teaches you.

The story of Abraham Lincoln can teach us many life lessons. But most of all, it teaches us the importance of being humble. Lincoln is arguably one of the most iconic presidents of the United States and is revered for his modesty and deep-seated humility. He was a leader who was willing to admit his shortcomings, accept his mistakes, and learn from them.

Yet despite all his failures, he still managed to stand on his feet, dust himself up and take charge of his destiny. He sought to improve his life through constant learning and self-reflection. When the going gets tough, being fully present will help keep you grounded. Take control of your emotions and focus your mind and energy on things you can control.

One final point I found interesting. When Jack was giving me a putting lesson, he told me that Barbara devoted 40 years to his life in golf. Now it is his turn to devote the next 40 years to her life. Family really is #1 with Jack Nicklaus.

Let us record the atoms as they fall upon the mind in the order in which they fall, let us trace the pattern, however disconnected and incoherent in appearance, which each sight or incident scores upon the consciousness. Let us not take it for granted that life exists more fully in what is commonly thought big than in what is commonly thought small.

Assessing the past year will help you take an honest look at your current benchmarks and inform your next targets. If you completed 50 workouts by the end of year, doubling that number for the new year is an ambitious goal worthy of pursuit. But aiming to workout daily and set a 365-day streak is probably an exercise in self-deception. An annual review helps us set resolutions we can actually reach by taking an ambitious, but realistic approach to goal-setting.

Despite the vast amount of information available in electronic formats, taking notes is an important learning strategy. In addition, the way that you take notes matters, and not all note-taking strategies lead to equal results. By considering your note-taking strategies carefully, you will be able to create a set of notes that will help retain the most important concepts from lectures and tests, and that will assist you in your exam preparation.

The availability of information on the internet may reduce the importance of the external storage function of note-taking. When the information is available online, it may seem logical to stop taking notes. However, by neglecting to take notes, you lose the benefits of note-taking as a learning tool.

Choose one of your classes where you normally take notes. Make a conscious effort to use the Cornell method with either the outline or concept map method for taking your notes. Follow as many steps listed previously as possible. Now compare these notes with those you took in the previous class. Are your new notes more useful? What did you like about taking notes this way? What are some of the things you need to work on improving? (Remember this will get much easier with more practice.) Write your thoughts down.

Clearly the best way to learn class material is to be at the class and to take your own notes. In university, regular attendance is expected. But life happens. On occasion, you may have to miss a class or lecture. When this happens, here are some strategies you can use to make up for it:

As a lifelong learner, taking notes while learning is truly essential to me. You will never see me without a way to take notes during a conference talk, a lesson, while watching an online course, or while reading a non-fiction book. I even take notes when I meet my therapist ?.

As I've argued in my article about The Capture Habit, capturing thoughts, ideas and knowledge is key to being able to connect the dots. If you follow a lesson but don't capture the essence of what was presented, it means that you're relying completely on your memory, on the course material, or on other people, all of which are risky. Your memory may fail you at any time, and you might not be able to remember everything you need. The course material might only provide a brief summary, and omit a lot of information that was shared "live". And relying on other people is very risky because they might not be organized, might not care, or might have taken notes that don't "work" for you or that are incomplete. 2351a5e196
