Nonequilibrium might be the common situation shared in all transport phenomena, although the past research ignored them routinely. We work on those situations where the effects induced by nonequilibrium effects are the predominant player. Cases in point are rarefied ambients, microscale dimensions, and fast processes. More tangibly, these effects are essential for satellites, microfluidics, nanosensors, nano-motors, AFM tips, among many others.

I derived a new slip boundary condition for slip flows, I explained the origin of the Knudsen force, and then light upon and explained the negative Knudsen force, which was then measured by experiments. For the high vacuum or ballistic transport, I derived a analytical solution to it.

I developed the DEM codes for packing the spherical, dimmer, and spherocylinder particles, as shown below. Meanwhile, I did most of the numerical simulations for the following paper. Starting from here, now I'm interested in the mechanics and transport of granular media.
