I was born in Kahnawake, a small indigenous community just outside of Montreal. I grew up in the community and have gone through the unique education system Kahnawake provides. Since graduating of Kahnawake Survival Scool, I have been able to continue my studies and further support educational efforts for indigenous peoples. I have been a post-secondary representative on the Kahnawake Combined Schools Commitee since 2018 and have been the chair of the committee for the last two years. I have also been working to support indigenous students at Champlain College Saint-Lambert thrive in post-secondary education.
I’m an emerging artist from Kahnawake. My work is a mix of various art studio art, often with a focus on cultural aspects of my life. I am Currently attending Bishops University, studying Teaching and Learning in Creative Arts: Fine Arts. I have a strong passion for my community, education, and the arts. I would love to continue working in education in various capacities.
I also have a strong interest in movies and television. I love the creativity and process for filmmaking and how it forever transports the audiences into a new world. The ability of film and television to tell stories is one of immense value.
One interesting thing about me is that I have had some interesting travel opportunities over the past few years. In 2017 I was able to travel to Hawaii with just one other find and explore for two weeks. I had poured nearly my whole life savings into that trip and it is one I will never forget. In 2019 I was given the opportunity to travel to Ireland where I lived with a family in a small village for three weeks. We learned about their culture, foods and languages. In 2022 I was able to travel to Belize for a few weeks with other students from the maple league schools. We traveled the whole country and had so many amazing experiences. Coming up in May, I will have the amazing opportunity to travel to Japan for three weeks and learn about their indigenous peoples while sharing my own.
My favorite place on the internet is youtube. I love how much there is to learn on the site while being mixed with comedy and entertainment. The ability to find videos on almost any subject and learn is incredible.
