This Privacy Policy explains how TagScan ("we", "us", the "app"), published by TechTenStein Services Pvt Ltd, handles information. TagScan is a Bluetooth tracker detector and personal safety tool. We designed it to do as much as possible on your device. This policy reflects the features in the current release, which includes third-party advertising (section 4.2). If we materially change how data is used, we will update this policy.
TagScan has no account and no sign-up. The only information you can choose to give us is the contents of a message you send from the in-app "Contact us" feature (sent through your own email app).
To keep the app reliable and understand how it is used, our service providers collect limited diagnostic and usage information, which may include a device or installation identifier, app and operating-system version, device model, approximate (IP-derived) region, crash logs, and in-app events such as which screens are opened. Because the app shows ads (section 4.2), an advertising identifier and limited ad-interaction data may also be collected and shared with advertising partners to serve and measure ads. On iOS, the app asks for App Tracking Transparency permission; ad personalisation that relies on a cross-app identifier happens only if you allow it, and the app works fully if you decline.
Scanning for nearby Bluetooth trackers happens entirely on your device. If you turn on "Enhanced protection", the app uses your device's location while the app is in use to record where a tracker was seen, so it can tell whether a tracker is following you across places. This location data is stored locally on your device and is not sent to us or sold to anyone. You can turn Enhanced protection off at any time.
TagScan sends notifications from your device only. We do not operate push servers and do not use Firebase Cloud Messaging or any other push service. No notification content is sent off your device.
We use Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting), Firebase Analytics (usage analytics), and Firebase Remote Config (feature configuration), provided by Google. These services process the diagnostic and usage information described in section 1.2 under Google's terms. See Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
We show ads through Google AdMob, including mediation that fills ad space from partner networks (AppLovin, Meta Audience Network, Pangle, Mintegral and Unity Ads). To serve, cap and measure ads, these partners may collect and process device and advertising identifiers, coarse (IP-derived) location, and ad-interaction data under their own privacy policies. Where required we gather your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform (the prompt you may see on first launch) and, on iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings, and ads never appear on the safety, scan, or alert screens. See Google's policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
If you tap a found tracker with your phone, the app reads the public web link stored on the tag and can open it in your browser to help return the item. We do not store or transmit this information.
We use the limited information above to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the app — for example, to fix crashes, understand which features are used, and configure the app safely — and, for the advertising described in section 4.2, to serve and measure ads. Our advertising partners may use advertising identifiers to personalise ads where you have consented.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share diagnostic and usage information with the service providers listed above so they can provide their services to us, and we share advertising identifiers and ad-interaction data with the advertising partners in section 4.2 to deliver and measure ads. Under some privacy laws (for example in the United States) this advertising activity may be considered "sharing" or "sale" for targeted advertising; you can opt out using your device's advertising-identifier controls and the on-launch consent prompt. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Data stored on your device (such as scan history, your settings, and any location trail) remains until you clear it. You can erase it at any time using "Clear my data" in Settings, which also resets analytics and crash-report identifiers. Diagnostic data held by our service providers is retained according to their standard retention periods.
Because the app has no account, the data that identifies you is minimal. You can clear all on-device data at any time, disable analytics and crash reporting by using "Clear my data", and turn off location and notifications in your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access or delete information; contact us to exercise them.
TagScan is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We are based in India. Our service providers may process information in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
We keep sensitive processing on your device, use reputable service providers, and apply reasonable technical measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. If we introduce advertising or materially new data uses, we will update this policy before those features become available.
