About Raffles Institution Branch

Raffles Institution Branch of Teens Against E-waste (TAE) is located at Bishan,Singapore.

Our goal is to raise awareness about the harmfulness in not disposing away trash correctly and the need to recycle these electronic waste and batteries in support of the one million battery campaign(1MB)

According to Singapore's government offical website, Singapore generates about 60,000 tons of e-waste each year rising with the need of laptops and desktops during work from home. However, only 6% of the total recorded waste were officially recycled. 6% ! The rest of 94% of the total e-waste(about 56400tons), is simply disposed away(probably into the sea!).

When I first saw the 1MB campaign poster, I was very happy and thankful that someone actually took the initiative to start such a campaign

that could teach people the need to recycle batteries peoperly. I was happy since many people around me didnt know how to recycle batteries,so I believe I could use this campaign to reduce the amount of batteries disposed incorrectly. Our goal is to reduce, or even end battery pollution with the help of 1MB and TAE.

Want to find out more about Singapore's way to recycle electronic waste like batteries? Watch the video bellow to find out more!

Here is a video made by HongYi Lu, Founder and President of TAE Raffles Institution Branch, Singapore. According to HongYi, "I took this video in a shopping mall called Junction 8 in Singapore. The E-waste bin is in a large electronics appliances shop. Bins like the one in this video can be found in more than 300 locations all around Singapore." Thank you for sharing with us!

How you can help out even if you dont create a branch!

Method 1:

you can head to TAE branches near you to recycle your batteries,to find out where they are, visit this linl:bit.ly/3N0JOuX.For example, if you live in Singapore, you could go and join the Raffles Institution or UWCSEA branch to recycle your batteries(dont actually go to the schools! If you want to recycle at my location, email me!)

Method 2:

No matter which country you live in currently, I believe they have a place where it says it is for recycling! If you have used batteries, just head to one of the recycling centers near you and you can give them your batteries to recycle! This takes no effort and all you have to do is go there with your batteries!
