According to the EPA, in 2009, US consumers and businesses discarded about 2.37 million tons of e-waste. And that was in 2009. Approximately 25% of the e-waste was collected for recycling, and the other 75% was discarded primarily into landfills, where they couldn't be reused or recycled.
Our mission is to help people realize how much e-waste they are discarding and to understand the significance of recycling e-waste. We want to encourage them to recycle their used electronics instead of throwing them away. We hope this will result in a healthier environment and a world that can properly recycle e-waste.
To help the environment and reduce e-waste, we will be placing collection boxes where it is allowed and where the boxes can easily be seen, like apartment buildings, parks, etc. We will also be going around collecting used batteries around our neighborhoods.
How to help even without being part of a branch
Collect batteries in your house or work, and instead of throwing them in the trash, take them to a recycling center so that the batteries don't pollute the earth.
