Rising Issues Of E-Waste
Throughout the past few decades, E-waste, also known as Electronic waste, has been a leading cause of the decline of our environment. It is extremely dangerous, and the current amount of E-waste being produced poses a constant threat to our bodies and environment in significant ways. A 2025 study on E-waste concluded that it has reached over 60 million metric tons globally. More importantly, studies have shown that households own an average of 74 electronic items (excluding lights), with 9 in storage but working, and 4 in storage and broken. If these households recycle their e-waste, significant changes can be seen once every household contributes to this matter.

How will we contribute?
Our Branch will utilize our school clubs, such as NHS, CSF, and Key Club, to organize battery drives and get students involved in volunteering to maximize the battery collection. We will also attempt to organize a community event where e-waste of all kinds will be collected and then brought for recycling. Ultimately, our branch's goal is to be able to contribute to help TAE thrive so we can all collectively make the environment safer.
Where Are We Located?
One of the many branches of TAE (Teens Against E-Waste) is our Pacifica High Branch. We are located in Garden Grove, California. We have the goal to raise awareness for the effects of e-waste, and we aim to assist TAE in what they do to protect our environment by recycling e-waste.

Where: 13533 Seal Beach Blvd, Seal Beach, CA 90740
Progress: Collected a large variety and sum of batteries, technology, devices, etc. Collected by a group of TAE members and other volunteers from the Golden Age Foundation.
Results: Close to a thousand batteries and dozens of devices gathered and recycled.
Notes for Future Reference: Aggressively shake the tip jar in front of passing by vehicles to encourage tipping. Always stay attentive for incoming vehicles and be quick to collect. Since the event is to be taken seriously, no joking around during "work".
Jack Fan's (Pres.) Thoughts: I think that next time if we all walked down to each invidual car and carried back the batteries it would've been much easier. If we had went down the line of cars and gotten the batteries, and left the other e-waste for the drivers to drive up and get it unloaded it definitely would have been more efficient in my point of view. Overall, it was a great opportunity and an amazing experience.
Brian Truong's (VP) Thoughts: I thought it was a pretty eventful morning, as everyone played their part and almost flawlessly collected the technologies with ease and efficiency. Even with a few bumps in the road, I had a great time meeting new people, smiling for a couple of hours, and most importantly, saving the environment. I would love to do this again in the future.
