Mission of the project

To raise public awareness of the global e-waste problem and help our community to recycle e-waste!

This is my first batch of batteries collected from our neighborhood and church. I'm glad these batteries won't end up in landfills and can be recycled/reused.

When we did the collection in our neighborhood, we send email to a community group distribution list. We told our neighbors about the battery project, the collection time and asked them to put the batteries outside their front door. Most neighbors were pretty cooperative and put their batteries out. However one gentleman asked us to knock his door to get the batteries. So we went there and knocked the door, but nobody answered. A few hours later, we went there again and knocked the door. Again nobody answered although the car was on the driveway. The same thing happened the third time we went there. It was the fourth time when the door was finally opened by an old gentleman. To my surprise, he handed me a big box of batteries. The rough estimate was at least two hundreds. Whew! Thank God, all the effort was not in vain.

From these experiences, I got to know that there are really great need for this service. A lot of people do want to preserve the environment and wan to recycle used batteries. But they don't know how to do that.

Powering Positive Change

In the heart of our neighborhood, a simple yet profoundly impactful initiative has been quietly gaining momentum. Thanks to our several rounds of neighborhood battery collection, a growing number of neighbors are now participating in this essential service we've proudly provided over the past years.

With each passing day, it's not uncommon to find bags and boxes of used batteries thoughtfully dropped at our front door. This gesture goes beyond the act of recycling; it's a testament to our community's growing consciousness about the importance of safeguarding our environment. It's a vivid illustration of how small actions can collectively lead to significant environmental benefits.
