Arnold O. Beckman Branch

Who are we?

The Arnold O. Beckman Branch of Teens Against E-Waste is located in Irvine, California. Our mission is to lessen the impact that electronic waste has on our environment by collecting and recycling e-waste.

Teens Against E-waste (TAE) is a student-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to help the community, spread awareness about the cause, and promote youth activism.

Why?

In the state of California, it is illegal to dispose of e-waste. According to TheWorldCounts.com, approximately 40 million tons of e-waste is generated every year. Only 12.5% of that waste is recycled. In other words, it's like throwing away 800 laptops every second!

Nothing good comes out of disposing of e-waste in landfills; incineration of these items leads to pollution on the land that we live on, in the water that we drink from, and in the very air that we breathe.

Our organization seeks to increase the recycling percentage and decrease the harmful effects to the environment by collecting e-waste. TAE launched the One Million Batteries (1MB) campaign and the WEEEcycle (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycling) campaign to make a greater impact and spread awareness of the cause.
