A cambion parent and unknown mortal parent, was abandoned as a child and raised in an Ilmatari orphanage. His grandfather is believed to be Mephistopheles.
A general disdain for having any sort of worry or care, he acts like he doesn't have a single one. He enjoys the finer things in life, indulging when he gets the chance. He's not one for cruelty, but he's also not one to stick his neck out too often for others. It can happen, though, rarely, if there is something that strikes a bit close to him. He's a pleasure seeker, enjoying the comforts he can take part in.
One would call him a coward, but he perhaps is a man made cautious but prior experiences. Even with this, sometimes his devil-may-care attitude can have him on highs which make it seem like he would quite welcome the cold embrace of death, if only so he could feel something for a moment.
Left as an infant at a crossroads, the babe that was found had a note attached to him that said his name was Darius FitzMephitz. He was taken to an Ilmatari orphanage, where he was raised by their kindness, but reviled by others due to his hellish ancestry. He had few friends as he grew, and threw himself into anything to take that loneliness away. He started to delve into art, specifically sculpting, which drew the attention of a local artisan.
The artisan took the youth on as his apprentice and was severe in his lessons. Any pay he received for his work was half what other apprentices would have received. The back of his hands would be beat raw if he did anything wrong and scars remain until this day. Yet this was a light in these years. As he aged, he started to get some recognition for his skills and met a half-orc woman he fell in love with.
In time, he finally saved up enough funds to feel adequate to propose to Euydice. The wedding day was set and the few friends the pair had were in attendance. But the idea of a tiefling and a half-orc marrying wasn't something some of the locals were fond of. They raided the wedding and Euydice was killed protecting him. He managed to survive by pretending to be dead. He was alone, again. With no power to seek justice for what had been done.
This is when Iggwilv made her apperance. She required someone with close archdemon ancestry to do her bidding and he was the grandson of Mephistopheles. She gave him the power to get the justice he so desired, but the price was to be her errand boy whenever she needed him. He spent years tracking down the members of the mob who killed everyone, while also being Iggwilv's servant and doing what she required of him. He changed his name to Durante Faust
Trying to get some sense of normalcy back, he decided to start to travel to Waterdeep in search of work as a sculptor. It was during this trip he was captured and taken onto the nautiloid.
