Ingeleif is known for having a cool head and being very logically minded. He's known to view rules as important to keeping things in line. He's practically minded and comes across as incredibly serious. Ingeleif comes across as distant and aloof and he prefers it that way. Some could even read it as some form of arrogance, but he also merely just views passing pleasantries as a waste of time.
A key point about him is he's exceedingly patient for himself, but his patience can run thin around more impulsive people. He knows how to wait but he does not know how to tolerate others' antics. This causes him to be a bit of a loner, at times, but he's able to carve out a place for himself when he walks into a room and sway people to his point of view at times. He's ambitious but it's balanced with this ability to wait and play a game until his pieces are set.
Ingeleif is the eldest child and heir to the noble house Maerklos of Waterdeep. Being gifted with magic at a young age, it gave him an expectation from his family; to be one of the most powerful wizards of his generation. There was only one issue standing in his way of that. A lesser family's son, Gale Dekarios, showed promise from a young age. Enough to gain the attention of the famed wizard, Elminster Aumar. With the Dekarios boy an apprentice for Elminster, Ingeleif had to find other instructors. But this pressure put on him by his family caused enough of a dislike for Ingeleif to have for Gale and he desired to prove he was better than the other in every way he could.
Ingeleif proved to be a studious, respectable student. Very different from the student who stole the Blackstaff and needed to be rescued. But even still, it felt like his work wasn't as recognized as his peer's. Ingeleif suffered more after an accident when skating with his younger sister. She fell through thin ice and he managed to save her, but the exposure from the water caused nerve damage to his arm. Everyone thought his casting would be done but he refused to give up. He eventually worked out a way to cast without relying on both arms, which inadvertently helped other students with arm mobility issues. But still, Gale became one of Mystra's Chosen and Ingeleif was once again overlooked.
But only for a time. Mystra eventually reached out to him, wanting to have him prove himself to her. The work took years, but eventually, Ingeleif became one of her Chosen...And, as with most of her Chosen, a lover as well. Pleased and sure he could finally start to one-up his rival, especially after his fall from grace, things started to look up. But after a time, he had some concern for what precisely had transpired between Mystra and Gale, but he was not informed.
After over a year, word traveled back to Waterdeep that Gale was one of the heroes who saved Baldur's Gate and all of FAerun, and perhaps Toril, from destruction. And Ingeleif was back trying to figure out how to prove himself the best.
Ingeleif remains in Waterdeep as one of Mystra's Chosen. He is an instructor at Blackstaff when he is not heeding Mystra's call and doing her bidding. Will be tagged as Ingeleif Verse: Base.
Ingeleif was sent by Mystra, along with Elminster. But whereas Elminster was just to deliver a message, Ingeleif was expected to remain and assist how he could. He's still new at being a Chosen, and thus doesn't have all the skills one might expect. Will be tagged Ingeleif Verse: Companion.
Interactions set prior to the game, where Ingeleif has his rivalry with Gale and is working to become the best, as well as his beginnings as one of Mystra's Chosen. Will be tagged Ingeleif Verse: Second Best.
TBA
Relationship Type: Rivalry
Been made to be rivals but societal circumstance and Ingeleif's family, as well as personality clashes, Gale and Ingeleif don't see eye to eye beyond abilities. It's a very petty and catty back and forth the two have.
