Frequent asked questions
A firearm transfer is the process through which a firearm is legally moved from one party to another. This is especially important when buying or receiving a firearm from a private seller or another federally licensed dealer. At Tactics N Arms, we act as a licensed Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL), handling all the required paperwork and background checks to ensure your transfer is legal and compliant.
Initiate the Transfer:
Purchase or Receive a Firearm: If you’ve purchased a firearm from an online seller or another state, provide us with the necessary information, including the seller's details.
Gift Transfer: If you’re receiving a firearm as a gift, we’ll handle the paperwork to ensure a legal transfer from the giver to you.
Provide Necessary Documentation:
Ensure that you have valid ID (usually a driver’s license) and any additional documents required (such as a concealed carry permit or state-specific documents if applicable).
Background Check:
As required by law, we will conduct a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check. This is mandatory for all transfers.
The transfer process will only be completed once the background check is successfully cleared.
Complete the Transfer:
Once the background check is passed and the paperwork is completed, you can pick up your firearm from Tactics N Arms. We will ensure you are fully educated on the safe handling and storage of your firearm before you leave.
State Regulations: Be sure to check your state’s firearm laws and regulations as some states have additional requirements (e.g., waiting periods, special documentation).
No Firearm Transfers to Prohibited Persons: We cannot complete a transfer if the buyer fails a background check or is otherwise prohibited from owning a firearm.
Transfer Time: Transfers typically take 3 business days from date of purchase, depending on the background check results and the specific circumstances of the transfer.
Transfer to persons: We can only transfer a firearm to the person that has purchased the firearm. If it is a transfer from an online order, the name must match what is on the order slip when shipped.
