Established in the Year of Compassion, 2025, to celebrate His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, the Tibetan Art Conservation and Research Association (TACRA) forms a coalition of scholars, professionals, Tibetan community members, and Buddhist practitioners who study, protect, and educate on Tibetan tangible and intangible heritage.
Based in the UK, we work internationally to create a platform where knowledge can be exchanged freely, and where Tibetans feel empowered to inherit, reinterpret, and protect their heritage. We aim to foster open-minded collaboration across communities, disciplines, cultural contexts, and political stances, encouraging dialogue that influences the way in which Tibetan histories and art are engaged with in the present.
Tibet is “a nation with an ancient culture, which is now facing the threat of extinction” ... “Protecting an ancient culture like this is the responsibility not only of the concerned nation, but also of the world community as a whole.”
- His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
