Privacy Policy for Tab Expert

Effective Date: May 12, 2026

Overview

Tab Expert is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and how it is stored.

Data We Collect

Tab Expert does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with external servers, third parties, or the developer. All data processed by the extension remains entirely on your device.

The extension accesses the following information solely to provide its features:

Data Storage

• All user data (collections, reading list, settings, etc.) is stored using the browser's built-in chrome.storage API.

• chrome.storage.sync syncs your data across your own devices using your browser account — no data is sent to Tab Expert's servers because Tab Expert has no servers.

• chrome.storage.local stores session data (e.g., sleeping tab state) only on the current device.

Data Sharing

Tab Expert does not:

• Sell, rent, or share your data with any third party

• Send any data to external servers or APIs

• Use analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry services

• Track your browsing history or behavior

Permissions Justification

Tab Expert requests only the permissions required for its stated features:

• tabs / tabGroups — Read tab info for vertical tabs and tab management

• storage — Persist your collections, settings, and timer state

• scripting / activeTab — Inject reader and capture features on the active page

• contextMenus — Add right-click shortcuts for collections, reader, and capture

• sidePanel — Display the vertical tab and collections sidebar

• bookmarks — Reading list feature

• downloads — Save web captures to your device

• notifications — Pomodoro timer alerts

• clipboardWrite — Copy link with title feature

• alarms — Background Pomodoro timer tick

• windows — Split view and side panel management

• <all_urls> — Required to activate features (reader, capture, sleeping tabs) on any page you choose

Children's Privacy

Tab Expert does not knowingly collect any information from users of any age, as it collects no data at all.

If this policy changes in a future version, the updated policy will be published alongside the new release with a revised effective date.
