Tab Panic is a Chrome extension game. When you click the extension icon, a 60-second popup-destruction game runs as a full-screen overlay on your current tab.
This policy explains what information the extension uses and what we do with it.
We do not sell your data.
We do not run ads or use analytics.
We do not operate our own servers that collect your personal information.
The game runs only when you click the extension icon.
Tab screenshot (during gameplay)
When you start a game, Tab Panic captures a screenshot of your current tab to use as the game background. This image is used only on your device during that game session. It is not uploaded to us or any third party by default.
Game stats (during gameplay)
While you play, the extension tracks stats such as popups destroyed, trap button clicks, weapons used, and time remaining. These stats are used only to show your end-of-run summary and a humorous “roast” message. They exist only for that play session and are not stored on our servers.
Built-in roasts (default)
By default, end-of-run messages are generated from pre-written text inside the extension. No data is sent to the internet for this.
If you choose to add a Groq API key in the extension Options page:
Your API key is saved in Chrome’s sync storage on your device (under the key groqApiKey).
After a game ends, anonymized game stats (such as score, popups destroyed, trap clicks, and weapons used) may be sent to Groq’s API to generate a short roast message.
Your API key is sent directly from your browser to Groq — we do not receive or store it on any server we operate.
If you do not add an API key, no data is sent to Groq and built-in roasts are used instead.
For how Groq handles API requests, see Groq’s privacy policy at https://groq.com/privacy-policy/
You can remove your API key at any time by clearing it in Options and saving.
