Youth protection Training

• www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/ - T74 and Scouts BSA takes the physical and mental protection of our Scouts very seriously, and requires all Adults (Leaders + Parents) to undergo bi-annual trainings to help keep our Scouts safe.  Visit the link "New to Scouting?  Click Here to Take Training" to learn more about the various barriers in place to prevent abuse.

• www.hikerdirect.com/ - Hiker Direct is a website run by the equipment manufacturer ALPS Mountaineering (tents/backpacks/sleeping bags/pads/etc.) and offers significant discounts to Scouts and Scouting Volunteers.  NOTE:  you will need to create an account with your Troop info before accessing the website.

• www.rei.com/ - REI is a national Co-Op Chain that stocks a wide variety of camping, climbing, cycling, clothing, and other adventure gear, including equipment rentals.  The nearest locations to T74 are in Sunnyvale (S. Sunnyvale/El Camino) or Saratoga (Lawrence/Prospect).  They also have a gear rental program.

• shop.sportsbasement.com/ - Sports Basement is a Bay Area chain that also stocks a wide variety of adventure gear, including equipment rentals.   The nearest location to T74 is just north of Hope Lutheran in Sunnyvale (Lawrence/Arques).  They also have a gear rental program.

• www.basspro.com/ - Bass Pro Shops is another national brand that focuses on outdoor gear.  The nearest location to T74 is South San Jose (Almaden Expressway and 85).

• www.scsurplus.com/ - Stevens Creek Surplus is near San Tomas Expressway and Steven Creek Blvd.  Apparel and camping supplies.

• www.redwoodtradingpost.com/ - Redwood Trading Post is a sporting goods shop in Redwood City that specializes in camping and outdoor gear.

• There are other vendors like Big 5, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc., with locations around the South Bay Area.
