"FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect - of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence, with a sense that they can create their own future."
-Dean Kamen, Founder of FIRST
The Robotics Club is a group of high school students from grades 9-12 that designs, builds, and programs a team Robot to compete in the annual FIRST Tech Challenge. Students will use various metal kit parts and raw materials to construct a Robot as well as write code in basic programming languages such as Java. Robots are designed to compete in a new challenge each year which will be brought to competitions at various sites against other schools and teams.
All teams of different grades meet different days during the week, however, all teams meet at least twice a week. There are many places in the school where our hardware and software groups meet - specifically room A7, which is open almost everyday of the week from right after school until eight o'clock at night. Now that's dedication!
The Engineering and Design Process is a go!
