💖Finding Home- Our Story

Our story began in late summer 2018. Martin remembers the exact date—September 3rd—while Synthea remembers seeing a tall, clean-cut guy step out of his car at work. It wasn’t exactly love at first sight; Synthea was protective of her friend’s job, and Martin actually thought Synthea seemed a little mean!

Despite the rocky first impression, Martin was persistent. What started as Synthea “just hanging out with friends” quickly turned into solo dates, including a memorable trip to Texas Roadhouse, where she famously dumped ranch on her steak—a quirky moment that Martin surprisingly found charming.

As they spent more time together, the connection became undeniable. Martin knew he was hooked when he couldn’t stop thinking about her, and he would whisper “I love you” while she was sleeping, which sealed the deal. For Synthea, the realization was a profound feeling of peace; Martin felt like “home,” as if they had known each other for lifetimes.

From adventures at Rifle Lake to the tender moment Martin first held Sebastian, their bond has only grown stronger. They found a partner in crime, a best friend, and a love that feels like it was meant to be.

The Proposal

It was Christmas Eve, and Martin had the ring ready and a plan in motion. But if you know Synthea, you know excitement can sometimes get the better of patience!

They were home together when a long-awaited FedEx package arrived. After Synthea took a bath, Martin presented her with a wrapped gift under the tree. When she opened the box and saw the small, dark-blue ring box inside, the reaction was immediate. Martin recalls her "breathing hard and laughing" in pure shock, while Synthea remembers the rush of happy tears.

Despite Synthea spotting the surprise a split-second early, Martin got down on one knee right there on the carpet. It wasn’t a staged movie moment; it was real, it was them, and it was perfect.
