1. Terms of Service

1.1 Acceptance of Terms  

By installing, purchasing, or using Fractured Notes or Occluded Highlights (the “Applications”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Applications.

1.2 License Grant  

Synaptic Signs (“we,” “us,” or “our”) grants you a non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable license to use the Applications in object‑code form on compatible Chrome/Edge browsers, strictly in accordance with these Terms. Your right to use Pro features is limited to the number of activations you purchase.

1.3 Feature Access & Restrictions  

- Free tier users receive limited access as described on our website/store pages.  

- Pro users receive full library access (Fractured Notes) or custom styles & notes (Occluded Highlights) after one‑time payment.  

- You may not modify, reverse‑engineer, distribute, sublicense, or remove any proprietary notices.

1.4 Payments & Refunds  

- Payments are processed by third‑party payment providers (Lemon Squeezy).  

- All sales are final unless a technical defect prevents use. Refund requests must be submitted via contact.synapticsigns@gmail.com within 14 days of purchase.

1.5 Updates & Support  

- We may provide updates, bug fixes, or new features at our discretion.  

- Email support is included for Pro customers; response times vary by plan.

1.6 Disclaimer of Warranties  

THE APPLICATIONS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not guarantee error‑free operation or uninterrupted access.

1.7 Limitation of Liability  

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Synaptic Signs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Applications.

1.8 Governing Law  

These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to conflict‑of‑law provisions.

1.9 Changes to Terms  

We may update these Terms at any time; the “Last updated” date will change. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

2. Privacy Policy

2.1 Data Collection & Storage

Both Fractured Notes and Occluded Highlights operate entirely client‑side. We do not transmit, collect, or store your study content on any external server. All of your highlights, fragments, notes, styles, and review settings remain saved locally in your browser’s storage.

Fractured Notes

No additional browser permissions required

Fractured Notes is delivered as a static site on Obsidian Publish, so no extra extension or host permissions are needed.

Occluded Highlights

• storage - To store highlights, notes, custom styles, and review intervals.

• scripting, tabs, commands, contextMenus, alarms, notifications - To enable the extension’s highlighting functionality, hotkeys, contextual menus, and study reminders.

• host_permissions (<all_urls>) - To inject highlighting logic into the web pages you visit.

2.2 Use of Data

Your data is used solely to power the Applications’ functionality. We never collect, share, or sell your personal or study data to third parties.

2.3 Third‑Party Services

Payment Processors (Paddle) manage purchase transactions and issue license keys.

Payout Services (Wise, PayPal, etc.) handle our earnings disbursement; we do not see or store your payment details.

2.4 Security

We employ reasonable client‑side measures to protect your data within the browser. However, no software is entirely risk‑free—please use the Applications at your own discretion.

2.5 Children’s Privacy

These Applications are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect or retain data from minors.

2.6 Your Rights

Access & Correction

You can review, edit, or delete your data at any time via your browser’s storage controls or directly within the Applications’ settings.

Data Portability

Export your highlights or fragments by copying them from the settings panels or via your browser’s developer tools.

Data Deletion

Uninstalling the Applications or clearing their local storage will permanently remove all saved data.
