Synapse programs are engineering-based. A typical program consists of a 6-week after-school session in which each week is designed after a specific focus within engineering:
Biomedical
Chemical
Environmental
Civil
Electrical
Mechanical
Our activities typically provide the students with a real world problem and background information regarding the global issue. We provide low-cost materials and construct an apparatus for which their devices can be tested in a real-time. To get sample templates, lesson plans, or start a program contact us.
We understand with the effects of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, it is challenging to meet with large groups of students to participate in engaging hands-on activities. To adapt to these circumstances, we have designed a 4-week virtual after-school program to continue our mission of spreading the wonders of science to young innovators. Program participants were able to join us virtually and conduct organized experiments from the comfort of their own homes. After organizing creative at-home projects and recruiting qualified volunteer mentors, students were able to utilize simple materials to design innovations and complete STEM challenges independently. Once the initial group lesson and program introduction were completed, students were put into breakout rooms of 3-5 participants along with a high school mentor to guide them during the process.
