The image of my OS already has 2005 SQL Express. It is my understanding that this version of ghost requires SQL 2014 Express. I install SQL 2014 Express after uninstalling 2005 and then I install GSS console. I am able to install everything with no errors. However when I go to open the GSS Console using the desktop icon i continuosly receive the same error message

You can test if the image is actually corrupted by loading ghost and running a check image file. If this shows the image as corrupted the unfortunately the only recourse would be to create a new image.

You can try to open the ghost image set with the ghost image explorer and see if you can pull out a few files from the back up. If it is truely corrupt then it will fail to open correctly in the ghost explorer also and recovery of the files isn't likely. It might be useful to try the latest version of ghost but it is likely not going to change the outcome.

I'm having a problem trying to use Ghost on one of my labs. This semester one of our instructors wanted to have a lab that can dual boot Win Xp and Linux. I set it up and pulled an image with ghost with no problems, but pushing the image back out causes Ghost to crash with the following error.

Hi all, im not sure im i out of topic to reply this at here. All the while im using norton ghost 2003 DOS at win9x and winXP untill i buy new harddisk SATA 500GB. with this 500GB HDD, the bootable ghost diskket unable to dectect the harddisk. I had try to make partition to both drive 250GB, but still unable to dectect. My previous harddisk is IDE 350GB, the ghost diskket working perfectly. so i guess the norton ghost 2003 harddisk limitation is below 500GB?? I would love to know if there have a solution for the ghost 2003 DOS version, can use for the harddisk 500GB and above. Thanks for reading.

The most (and boy do I mean most) valuable features in Norton ghost is the ignore bad sectors option. With this option you can actually backup a damaged hard drive, to some degree at least. If the drive is badly damaged it might not be able to read past the defective areas. However in my experience it usually will. And of course like the older versions of ghost it can perform a sector by sector cloning or imaging of a drive.

If you have a dedicated workstation for testing then I would highly recommend Symantec Ghost. Simply get the workstation to the clean state, reboot to ghost and 'take a snapshot' of the HD or partition. You can then replace the HD or partition from the image say from CD or multicasted over a network connection from another PC. 2351a5e196
