I completed a full Tableau project using a Seattle Airbnb dataset (from Kaggle). I truly enjoyed working on this project and learning about some of the amazing things that can be done with Tableau!
The project included me completing the following tasks:
Preparing and understanding the dataset
Uploading the dataset to Tableau and creating an "Joins" of multiple tables.
Filtering and sorting the data
Performing multiple data calculations
Creating and formatting multiple visualizations to show:
The average price of the listings by zip code in a bar graph
The average listing price by zip code in a map
Weekly revenue for the 2016 year
The average price per number of bedrooms
The number of listings by bedrooms
Creating and formatting a dashboard (seen below)
The idea behind this project was to create useful visualizations that assisted stakeholders in identifying properties that would potentially provide the highest profits. The bar graphs and map show the average prices of listings in different zip codes. This can help a potential buyer identify which areas they would like to focus on. The line graph shows the weekly revenue for 2016. This can be used to identify which times of the year a property owner should be sure to list their house. The last two charts show the average price per number of bedrooms and the number of listings per bedrooms. The bar graph is a great resource to use when purchasing properties and determining the number of desired bedrooms. The chart shows the competitors in various areas and the number of bedrooms they have. Together, I believe this dashboard to be highly beneficial to someone looking to enter the Airbnb market in Seattle.
