Transmission
Your transmission, whether automatic or manual, plays a crucial role in your vehicles performance. The purpose of the transmission is to transmit the torque created by the engine, through the differential, driveshaft, and wheel, thus making it possible for your car to travel.
It is recommended to service your transmission approximately every 50,000 km, or about two years. If you drive in extreme conditions, the recommended time interval would be less.
A transmission service includes adjusting the bands and replacing the filter and fluid. With regular servicing and maintenance, your transmission will operate smoothly, and quietly, too.
Ways to extend the wellbeing of your transmission include:
Don't shift from or reverse to park while the car is in motion. Always bring the car to a full stop, and then shift.
Check your fluid regularly; bring in your car if you see darkening of the colour or black specs. One of our helpful technicians will be happy to assist you, appointments can be made here.
Pay careful attention to what gears you are using when towing. Generally, you want to avoid Overdrive. It is advisable to add transmission fluid cooler to maintain the correct temperature.
