I am a Professor in Economics at Nelson Mandela University (https://www.mandela.ac.za/), South Africa, teaching Advanced Microeconomics (masters level) and Microeconomics (honours level). I hold a Doctor of Commerce in Economics (University of Fort Hare), MCom Economics (University of Fort Hare) , BCom Economics- Financial Markets (cum laude, University of Fort Hare) and BCom Economics and Business Management ( cum laude, University of Fort Hare). I have taught in the higher education sector since 2012. My areas of teaching and research are: applied microeconomics, microeconomics theory; behavioural and experimental economics; game theory; industrial organisation. My interest in experimental economics has been ignited by a 5-Day Workshop On The Behavioural Econometrics Of Risk, Uncertainty And Time Preference , presented by Professors: Glenn Harrison and Elisabet Rutström
My doctoral thesis was on Dynamic interactions between stock markets and banks in South Africa: testing for market disciplining of banks.
My research focus is generally at the intersection of behavioural (and experimental) economics and sustainability. In this regard, sustainability is considered to include environmental topics (ocean economy, climate change, energy, biodiversity loss, water scarcity and pollution, urban sprawl, waste); sustainable economies and behaviours (pro-environmental behaviours, circular economy, smart cities); sustainable development; societal challenges (poverty, inequality, education); health, and gender.
