We want to thank Iliana for loaning the the museum for public display the Sword of Truth!
This FANTASTIC specimen is an incredible piece, and truly was a labor of love for the swordsmith. Thank you so much for sharing!
Iliana shared: The sword was forged by Daniel Watson, late owner of Angel Sword (https://www.angelsword.com). He passed in Dec 2021, two months after completing the SOT. I was told it was one of his last pieces made. Several swordsmiths said the description was pure fiction and impossible to make, so passed on the project. The big problem being the hilt of woven wire to spell TRUTH and that no sword would ever have a hilt made of wire. Well. Daniel basically said, challenge accepted, and spent quite some time trial and error'ing how to weave in wire letters. I did splurge for real gold, too. He finally figured it out and got to making the Sword. He even discovered the SOT books on his attic!!! Apparently his mother-in-law gifted them to his wife and they never touched them. So he started reading to understand the assignment and LOVED the whole meaning behind someone who's job was based on TRUTH. He told me he reflected in what he was reading while forging the Sword. His team made the wall hanger and the sheath (not depicted: it's zebra wood with carvings to mimic swirls of silver and gold. I had planned to save up to have it done by the book and Daniel was so ready to do it in real gold too... sigh). The pommel is the only thing not described in the book. But since Daniel read it, he knew the only way one could dance with death and fight the way Richard did, was with a pommel of that traditional shape for smooth movements and speed. It is made to the shape of my hand and a person of my height. Daniel was a wizard. I am the Seeker. Â
